“Real happiness lies in the completion of work using your own brains and skills.”

Manufacturing is both global and innovative. It has the largest multiplier of any industry—for every $1 spent, $1.89 is added to the economy. Manufacturing, even if it does not create the most jobs in the economy, creates some of the best jobs, and is the bedrock of some of our rural and urban areas. Continuous improvement is a tenant of this industry. This global industry is constantly optimizing and becoming more efficient, and as supply chains change, facilities and jobs will be impacted. New tax policies have encouraged investment in technology and equipment and the economy is growing, increasing consumer demand for quality products from food to advanced electronics.
In the American economy, the manufacturing industry has constantly produced great results. And in Ohio, it’s a strong industry as well. We will come together to specifically celebrate the companies, employees and advocates of the manufacturing industry on October 5, National Manufacturing Day.
Of course, manufacturing is also under intense scrutiny as trade policies and tariffs impact the nation’s supply chains. The affect of these changes in policy are still being evaluated in our dynamic environment, and we may not know the impacts for some time. What we do know is that we need to very vigilantly monitor the situation.
Please mark October 5 on your calendar and participate if you can. Continue to engage with your local, state and national policy makers on the impacts of the shifting policies impacting manufacturing both positively and negatively. Finally, it’s worth a quick review to examine the impact of the manufacturing industry in your own backyard. Manufacturing, with its global competition and technological advancements will continue to make it both a difficult business and one of our core pillars of innovation and economic development in our communities.
Let’s make it a great week!
