The Columbus Region benefits from significant foreign direct investment and welcomes a large international presence including Honda automotive plants and the largest Honda R&D center outside of Japan.

With an extensive automotive supplier network, the Region sits at the center of the U.S. automotive industry. A geographically strong position gives automotive companies unmatched access to U.S.-based OEMs and suppliers.

Smart Mobility Ecosystem

The city of Columbus was the winner of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s first-ever Smart City Challenge. The city was awarded a total of $50 million to develop the future of transportation and become a leading example for other cities as the transportation landscape evolves.

The award provided the seed funding for Smart Columbus, a region-wide smart city initiative that is embracing the reinvention of transportation to accelerate human progress. By reinventing mobility in the Columbus Region, it’s paving the way to a future beyond what anyone has yet imagined.
