Building a More Equitable Community
Climate change disproportionally impacts marginalized and low-income communities. That’s why the City of Columbus is committed to working with both businesses and individual residents to actively reduce the city’s carbon footprint, to improve quality of life in Columbus now and for the future. The City of Columbus’ Action Plan outlines the steps the city will take to implement more sustainable transportation, reduce waste, greenify buildings and infrastructure, and more.
Clean Energy Columbus
Clean Energy Columbus is the city’s 100% clean energy aggregation initiative, which connects Columbus’ homes and small businesses with clean energy from Ohio-based solar and wind sources. An overwhelming majority of the city’s residents voted in favor of the initiative, showcasing their desire for a more sustainable future and making Clean Energy Columbus one of the largest electric aggregators in the United States. Constructing the new wind and solar programs required will also support nearly 4,500 jobs across Ohio.
Clean Energy Partners
Clean Energy Partners assists private businesses, non-profit organizations and other large energy users with 100% renewable-focused custom energy solutions. The Region’s business leaders’ desire for more comprehensive green energy options inspired this greater Smart Columbus initiative expansion.
